Supported: .glb files only

Why Convert GLB to OBJ?

GLB bundles everything into one binary. OBJ extracts clean meshes you can edit anywhere. Unlock web assets for offline creative workflows.

Mesh Extraction

GLB packages meshes, textures, materials, and animations in a single binary. Extract clean OBJ meshes with all texture references for offline editing workflows.

Texture Recovery

Our converter extracts embedded GLB textures and saves them alongside the OBJ+MTL output. No more hunting for missing texture files.

Editable Format

OBJ is plain text and modifiable in any 3D modeling tool. Convert downloaded GLB models from Sketchfab, Poly Haven, or online stores into editable assets.

3D Printing

Convert GLB product viewers and web assets into printable OBJ files for Cura, PrusaSlicer, and Bambu Studio. Bridge the gap from web to physical.

About GLB to OBJ Conversion

Why convert GLB to OBJ?

GLB (GL Transmission Format Binary) is the single-file container version of glTF 2.0 it packs mesh data, PBR materials, textures, animations, and scene hierarchy into one compact binary file. It's the standard format for web delivery, e-commerce product viewers, and AR/VR applications. OBJ (Wavefront) is the universal mesh format readable by every 3D tool. Converting GLB to OBJ extracts the geometry from the binary container into an editable format for modeling, texturing, and 3D printing workflows.

What is preserved during conversion?

Mesh geometry, all UV map sets, and vertex normals are fully extracted from the GLB binary. Embedded textures are saved as separate image files alongside the OBJ+MTL output. PBR material data is simplified to basic diffuse/specular properties in the MTL file  complex shader graphs from the glTF material model are reduced to color+texture references. Animation data, skeletal rigs, and morph targets are not preserved since OBJ is a static mesh format.

How to use the converted OBJ file

The OBJ+MTL+textures package imports into Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Cinema 4D, and any OBJ-compatible application. For best visual quality, reassign PBR materials in your target tool using the extracted textures as a starting point. For 3D printing, import the OBJ directly into Cura, PrusaSlicer, or Bambu Studio.

How to Convert GLB to OBJ

Three simple steps to extract editable OBJ meshes from binary glTF containers.

1

Upload Your GLB File

Drag and drop your .glb file or click to browse. GLB files from Sketchfab, Google Model Viewer, Shopify, Amazon, and all glTF-exporting tools are supported. Free tier: up to 50MB.

2

Convert to OBJ

Our cloud engine reads the GLB binary container, extracts mesh/UV/material/texture data from the glTF structure, and writes clean OBJ+MTL output with all texture files unpacked.

3

Download & Edit Anywhere

Download your OBJ+MTL+textures package and import into any 3D application, game engine, or 3D printing slicer. Files auto-delete from our servers within 1 hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

GLB (GLTF Binary) is a single-file binary container that packages 3D mesh data, PBR materials, embedded textures, animations, and scene hierarchy into one compact file the standard for web delivery, e-commerce, and AR. OBJ (Wavefront) is a universal text-based mesh format with companion MTL material files supported by every 3D tool and 3D printer. GLB is optimized for efficient delivery; OBJ is optimized for universal editing compatibility.
Yes. You can convert up to 3 files per day for free with files up to 50MB each. For unlimited conversions, file sizes up to 500MB, and batch processing, upgrade to Pro. Team plans support files up to 1GB.
Yes. Our converter reads the GLB binary buffer and extracts all embedded texture images, saving them as separate PNG/JPEG files alongside the OBJ+MTL output. The MTL file references these textures by relative path so they auto-assign when imported into any 3D application.
PBR material data is simplified to basic diffuse/specular in the MTL file baseColor maps to diffuse, and texture references are preserved. Complex PBR shader graphs (metallic-roughness, normal maps, occlusion) are not directly supported by the OBJ/MTL format. For best visual results, reassign PBR materials in your target application using the extracted textures.
OBJ files import into Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, and virtually every other 3D tool. OBJ is the most universally compatible 3D format.
Absolutely. All uploads use TLS 1.3 encryption. Files are processed in isolated cloud environments and auto-deleted within 1 hour. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
