BLEND to OBJ Converter

BLEND to OBJ Converter

Export your Blender native .blend projects to Wavefront OBJ format instantly, no Blender installation needed. Our cloud servers run Blender's own engine to extract meshes, UVs, materials, and modifiers with full fidelity. Perfect for sharing, archiving, or importing into any 3D tool.

Supported: .blend files only

Why Convert BLEND to OBJ?

Blender's .blend format is powerful but proprietary only Blender can open it directly. OBJ is the universal bridge that makes your models accessible everywhere.

Cross-Application Sharing

Share your Blender models with Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Cinema 4D, or Houdini users. OBJ is the lowest-common-denominator format that every professional tool reads natively.

No Blender Required

Send your .blend file to our converter and get an OBJ back, no Blender installation needed on your machine. Our cloud servers run Blender's native import/export engine for maximum fidelity.

Game Engine Import

While Unreal and Unity prefer FBX, OBJ is a reliable fallback for static meshes. Convert your Blender props, environments, and hard-surface models to OBJ for direct engine import.

Modifier Baking

Blender modifiers (Subdivision Surface, Mirror, Array, Boolean) are baked into the exported mesh. Your OBJ contains the final geometry exactly as it appears in Blender's viewport.

About BLEND to OBJ Conversion

Why convert BLEND to OBJ?

BLEND is Blender's native, proprietary file format. While powerful, it can only be opened directly in Blender. Converting BLEND to OBJ provides a universal format that can be imported into virtually any 3D software, game engine, or 3D printing slicer. Our converter runs Blender's own import/export engine on cloud servers, so even if you don't have Blender installed, your .blend files are processed with full fidelity.

What is preserved during conversion?

We extract and preserve all visible mesh objects with their final modifier stack baked, including Subdivision Surface, Mirror, Array, Boolean, and Solidify modifiers. UV coordinates (all UV maps), vertex normals, and object names are fully maintained. Material slots with Blender material names are preserved and written to a companion MTL file. Textures referenced by your materials are included in the output package. Note: rigging, animation, shape keys, and node-based shader graphs are not preserved since OBJ is a static mesh format.

Tips for best results

Make sure your .blend file contains at least one visible mesh object with applied transforms (Ctrl+A → All Transforms in Blender). Ensure external textures are packed into the .blend file (File → External Data → Pack Resources) or are accessible. For complex node-based materials, the OBJ output will contain basic diffuse color from the Principled BSDF node, upgrade materials to PBR in your target application for best visual quality.

How to Convert BLEND to OBJ

Export your Blender projects to universal OBJ format in three steps. No Blender installation needed.

1

Upload Your BLEND File

Drag and drop your .blend file or click to browse. For best results, pack your external textures (File → External Data → Pack Resources in Blender) before uploading. Free tier supports files up to 50MB.

2

Convert to OBJ

Our cloud servers run Blender to open your file, bake all modifiers, and export clean OBJ+MTL output. All visible mesh objects are included hidden objects and collections are excluded for a clean result.

3

Download & Use Anywhere

Download your OBJ (+ MTL + textures) package and import into Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Unity, Unreal, or any 3D printing slicer. Files are auto-deleted within 1 hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Our cloud servers run Blender's import/export engine to read your .blend file and write it to OBJ format. You don't need Blender installed on your machine. This ensures full support for Blender-specific features including modifiers, material slots, armatures, shape keys, and collections. Make sure your .blend file has external assets packed for best results.
Yes. You can convert up to 3 files per day for free with files up to 50MB each. For unlimited conversions, file sizes up to 500MB, and batch processing of entire folders, upgrade to Pro. Team plans support files up to 1GB.
Yes. Our conversion pipeline forces all visible mesh objects to have their modifier stacks baked. This means Subdivision Surface, Mirror, Array, Boolean, Solidify, and all other modifiers are fully applied to the exported geometry. The OBJ output contains the final mesh exactly as it appears in Blender's viewport with all modifiers active.
Material slots are preserved with object names and written to a companion MTL file. The Principled BSDF base color is extracted as the MTL diffuse color. Texture images referenced by your materials are included in the output. However, complex node-based shader graphs are simplified the OBJ/MTL format only supports basic diffuse/specular materials. Upgrade to PBR materials in your target application for best results.
No. OBJ is a static mesh format and does not support animation, skeletal rigs, shape keys, or blendshapes. If you need animation in your output, convert to FBX instead using our Blender to FBX pipeline. BLEND to OBJ is designed for static mesh export ideal for hard-surface models, props, environments, and 3D printing assets.
OBJ files import into Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Modo, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, Meshmixer, and virtually every other professional 3D application and 3D printing slicer.
Absolutely. All uploads use TLS 1.3 encryption. Files are processed in isolated cloud environments using Blender in headless mode and are automatically deleted within 1 hour of upload. We never store, share, or inspect your .blend projects beyond what's necessary for the conversion. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
